Activities.

Having done social change campaign through the power of arts, The Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda have been adjusting and redefining its activities, for instance, the Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda is championing the awareness campaign on Albinism in Northern Uganda. This was never regarded as a post-war conflict challenge as many albinos in the region have been living in silence and fear until the Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda with the support of different media houses was able to drum the issues of the vice through the compelling story of the then 14-year-Old. Kica Emmanuel used to walk about 7 kilometers from home to school barefooted and had no cap, no shoes with a lot of stigmatization at his school.

With the support of People Help People Germany The Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda have been in a position to support Kica Emmanuel with fees, Sports bicycle, school material right from primary Five in 2014 from Bidati Primary school including food items among others. The story of Kica also attracted other partners like Gulu Metropolitan Lions Club among others as his plight continues running on our Facebook page.

At Galaxy Poets we are still continuing to support Kica Emmanuel who has rapidly been growing, now in senior one at Pope Paul Anaka, Nwoya district after he sat his Primary Leaving Examination from Bidati Primary school last year and with Support of our partner, People Help People-Germany we shall be extending help to Emmanuel and see that he excels in school now that he has joined secondary school.

Support to Community schools in Omoro and Gulu district

Effective 2017, The Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda would be supporting community schools in Gulu and Omoro with iron sheets to help them begin the transition from Grass-thatched hut roof and where necessary give most needed textbooks with a great mission to see that the grassroots community schools gets taken up by government when they are fully empowered especially where the will of the parents of such community schools have the heart to volunteer and make their school a better one for their children putting in mind that community schools are put in places where government headed primary schools are kilometers away from such locality.

Support to Sports project.

Is true the guns have gone silent in Northern Uganda but the scars still need nursing and games and sports is still very fundamental in Northern Uganda apart from it as being an enterprising sector. Well aware that Omoro district was carved out of Gulu effective July 2016,The Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda with Support from our friends in Germany will fully support Omoro district Local government to hold its first inter-school district sports tournament by buying trophies to be competed for, Buying football uniforms for two clubs as requested by the district chairperson Okello Douglas peter Okao who was the then Gulu district speaker and featured in our first documentary raising awareness on our activities.

This is so because Omoro is still a new district and just beginning everything and the Galaxy Poets have taken a bigger share in supporting the sporting activities in the district as they stabilise.

We shall as resources demand to continue sporting youths in clubs with Balls, and uniforms to promote sports just for the recreational purpose to the enterprising bit of it by developing more sports club through the involvement of the local leadership.

The support under sports will also target some secondary schools and primary especially in providing sporting equipment to school.

Support to Vulnerable children/Albinism.

The Galaxy Poets under support for vulnerable children have Kica Emmanuel as one of the beneficiaries. On many occasions under this project, the Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda identify a needy child in primary school every year and pay for his or her school fees, for a term or even a whole year just to support the guardians in the coming period, although it is only still Kica who is a long term beneficiary under this project since 2014 since he has a special case of albinism.

With special request from Okello Douglas Peter Okao, Omoro district chairman the Galaxy Poets of Northern Uganda also will also in 2017 donate food items to the nodding disease children being taken care off in Odek by Hope For Humans but food crisis was hitting the centre and like any other development partner the galaxy Poets will be making their modest support to drum support and create awareness about the challenges being experienced by the nodding children in Acholi Sub-region.
